Katsutoshi Yada, Ph.D., Faculty of Commerce, Kansai University, (Doctor of Business Administration)
After completing a doctorate at Kobe University of Commerce, Graduate School of Business Administration in 1997. After 1997, Professor Yada taught in the Department of Business Administration, Osaka Industrial University. Since 2000, he has taught in the Faculty of Commerce, Kansai University, and been a visiting researcher at the Graduate School of Business, Columbia University.
As a graduate student, K. Yada worked on the frontline at several companies to apply information technologies to business, and conducted research into strategic use of large-scale data and business applications for data mining. The first Japanese researcher to be published in the international journal KDD&DM, K. Yada has played a leading role in research into applications for data mining in Japan. In recent years, he has participated in cutting-edge marketing research, and has presented work at international meetings of the American Marketing Association (AMA). At present, K. Yada holds the post of Director of the Data Mining Laboratory, is Vice-President of the DSI Program, and serves as chairman or program committee member at several international conferences.
